On Thursday, May 7 2026, the Collège de France is organizing an inaugural lecture entitled " Prehistory : between utopia and reality ", as part of a cycle devoted to representations of human origins.
The talk will be given by Jean-Jacques Hublin, professor at the Collège de France and a specialist in human evolution. It will take place from 6 pm to 7 pm in the Maurice Halbwachs amphitheatre, on the Marcelin-Berthelot site in Paris.
Open to all, with no prior registration required, the conference will examine the relationship between scientific knowledge and the imaginary world of prehistory, looking at the intellectual constructs that have shaped our understanding of ancient human societies.
This event marks the opening of a series of meetings organized in conjunction with the exhibition " Prehistory : between utopia and reality ", devoted to the history of knowledge and representations of the origins of mankind, to be held from April 29 to July 19, 2026, at the Collège de France.
