Harvard professor Daniel Lieberman has been invited by the Collège de France assembly at the suggestion of Pr Jean-Jacques Hublin to give a series of four lectures under the title " How we evolved to die healthy ", on October 3, 10, 24 and 31 2025 from 14 h 30 to 15 h 30.

Today, in France and other high-income countries, people are living longer than ever, but we are also suffering from a growing burden of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cancers, and heart disease, which were once much less common. Medical science is mainly focused on developing new and better ways to treat these diseases. But we should also be doing more to prevent them in the first place, thereby extending not only lifespan, but also the number of years we live in good health. This lecture series will explore the new field of evolutionary medicine to examine how evolutionary theory and data can be used in conjunction with medical science to prevent disease and, in some cases, treat it too.
