The theme chosen for this event is mobility, a key issue in the environmental transition. In fact, transportation currently accounts for more than 25% of our CO2 emissions in France. It therefore contributes significantly to global warming. Nevertheless, doing without our current means of transportation—whether to get to work, go on vacation, or simply for everyday trips—is unrealistic. It is therefore urgent to shift from a model based on oil and gasoline to one relying on low-carbon energy sources that are far more environmentally friendly.
Marc Fontecave and Jean-Marie Tarascon, professors at the Collège de France, will each deliver a lecture on this occasion. Laurence Boisson de Chazournes, former holder of the Avenir Commun Durable Chair, will be the guest of honor at the university’s formal opening ceremony. Her presentation will focus on “the international regulation of freshwater resources.”
This event is being held in partnership with France Université and Clermont-Auvergne University as part of the opening of its open university and its formal opening ceremony.
