Never before have we experienced the original and ineliminable power of the limit as we did during the Covid-19 global pandemic. If human societies are to avoid the catastrophe foretold by studies on climate change and biodiversity loss, but also by ever-increasing social inequalities, the limit must once again become " sovereign " : only then will it be possible to guarantee societies that are still human, and a world that is still liveable. But in the face of a market that is now total, can the law still perform these functions ? And under what conditions can it correct the limitless ideology of globalization ? And reaffirm the demands for social and environmental justice that the latter has set aside ? Together with Alain Supiot, this volume seeks to provide some answers to these questions.
