In August 2018, the Collège de France acquired for the Tibetan Studies Library and is currently exhibiting in the reading room of the Asian Worlds Department (PoMA) of the Institute of Civilizations a remarkable book entitled Murals of Tibet, published by Taschen Publishing (2018), in an unusual format (50 × 70 cm) called SUMO. This imposing book (nearly 500 pages) features photographs, printed in actual format, of murals in Tibet, taken by American writer, journalist and photographer Thomas Laird. Less than 1 000 copies of the book were printed, each autographed by the Dalai Lama, and equipped with a lectern designed by architect Shigeru Ban.
