The Shaw Prize in Biological and Medical Sciences Awarded to Professor de Thé

The 2026Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine has been awarded to Prof. Hugues de Thé, professor at the Collège de France and holder of the Chair Cellular and Molecular ; to Prof. Anne Déjean, professor emerita at the Institut Pasteur; and to Prof. Zhu Chen, a professor at Ruijin Hospital of the School of Medicine at Jiao Tong University, the discovery of the molecular and cellular basis of acute promyelocytic leukemia, and for the pioneering development of a synergistic targeted therapy that has transformed this disease, once one of the deadliest cancers, into one of the most curable 

The Shaw Prizes, sometimes referred to as the “Nobel of Asia, have been awarded annually since 2004 by the Hong Kong-based Shaw Charitable Foundation.
