In his work on the texts of the Hebrew Bible, Thomas Römer uses archaeology to identify the social, political and cultural circumstances likely to have generated the different theological conceptions reflected in the biblical texts. On the occasion of the presentation at Château L'Hospitalet of the exhibition "Wines, oils and perfumes: an archaeological voyage around the ancient Mediterranean", which was shown at the Collège de France from October 2024 to January 2025, with the inclusion for this presentation in Narbonnaise of objects and artifacts from the collections of the Narbo Via museum, Professor Thomas Römer has agreed to give a lecture entitled "Wine in the Hebrew Bible". His talk will highlight the discourse on wine and its uses in one of the founding texts of Mediterranean civilization, which continues to shape and question our Western societies.
