Abstract

Pharaonic iconography repeatedly attests to the use of frontal representation for Osiris. Through a cross-referenced examination of the documentation, we will attempt to shed light on the underlying religious themes associated with this prominence of the divine face. We will try to determine whether these representations are linked to a particular value attributed to the face of this god, a face conceived as a signifying element of the divine person.
