Abstract
This panel looks at how diplomacy is articulated at both EU and bilateral levels. It examines the impact of the EU's supranational structures on the national trajectories of individual European countries, and vice versa. The aim is to contribute to the debate on the standardization of European foreign policy.

Sinem Akgül Açıkmeşe
Sinem Akgül Açıkmeşe is Professor of International Relations and Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Kadir Has University (KHAS). Since 2021, she has also been a Full Researcher at the Centre for Modern Turkish Studies at Carleton University (Canada), and currently serves as Secretary General and Board Member of the International Relations Council of Turkey (IRCT). Her research interests include security studies, transatlantic relations, EU foreign and neighborhood policies, European integration and Turkey-EU relations.
Omran Shroufi
Omran Shroufi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Omran obtained his PhD in political science at the University of York, where he studied the emergence of pro-Israeli far-right parties in Western Europe. He is currently working on a book on the subject, to be published by Manchester University Press. His research interests include the far right, far-right ideology, German politics, populism and anti-populism.
Isaías Barreñada Bajo
Isaías Barreñada Bajo is Professor of International Relations in the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at Madrid's Complutense University, and a researcher at the Complutense Institute of International Studies (ICEI). His areas of research are Spanish and European foreign policy, Palestine and the Western Sahara. He has worked in various international fields, including international trade union action, development cooperation and public diplomacy. He is co-director of the Groupe Complutense de Recherche sur le Maghreb et Proche-Orient (GICMOM).
Muzna Shihabi
Muzna Shihabi is Head of Communications Development at the Centre arabe de recherches et d'études politiques in Paris. A former adviser to the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Ramallah, she works at the intersection of media, advocacy and intellectual production. Her areas of expertise include political narratives in the context of conflict, exile and resistance, as well as issues of memory and representation linked to the Palestinian question.
