Abstract
More than nine thousand documents from the Mari archives are now published and referenced on the archibab.fr website. The vast majority are letters, administrative accounts and, to a lesser extent, legal documents. Among the trades mentioned in the tablets are scribes of both sexes. Scribes appear as witnesses to contracts, as actors in correspondence, or as recipients of rations in administrative documents. A female scribe is even mentioned as part of a dowry on the occasion of a marriage. The aim of this contribution is to shed light on the identity of these scribes.
