Résumé

The present talk deals with some peculiar cuneiform tablets and fragments in the British Museum’s Kuyunjik Collection: these tablets are substantially earlier than what is commonly referred to as Ashurbanipal’s library in Nineveh and were probably found in Babylonia. Beyond an investigation of this phenomenon, an overview of the genres represented in this group and the possible connections to known archives and libraries will be discussed in detail.
