H. Malay, G. Petzl, New Religious Texts from Lydia (2017), no. 1, a text from Thyateira in Lydia probably of the 2nd c. BC, raises several problems of specific interpretation. It also invites consideration of some general aspects of such texts, such as the selectivity of the topics they treat, the degree of precision or casuistry with which they identify possible pollutions, and the kind of authority that underlies them.
