Abstract

This lecture looks at domestication as a model for studying biodiversity and evolution, using examples such as the domestication of plants, fruit trees (apple trees), dogs and horses, as well as fungi used for cheese maturing. We also examine the question of the " pestification " of pathogenic fungi under human influence. The lecture also addresses current challenges to the diversity of cultivated living organisms, such as declining genetic diversity and gene flow from cultivated plants to their wild relatives.
