Abstract

This lecture is devoted to the study of diversification processes in living organisms, from the origin of life (RNA world, primitive soup, LUCA, the last common ancestor of all species currently living on Earth), to the most recent species formations (how can reproductive isolation be selected ?). In particular, we examine the major puzzles that remain to be solved on these issues, including the question of speciation in sympatry, without geographical isolation.
