Abstract
This lecture, based on the work of our research group, will address some specific aspects of biological invasions worldwide, in particular how to predict what future invasive alien species will be, and in which regions of the world they will occur. This lecture will explore predictive aspects and thus explore the crucial question of the impact of climate change on biological invasions. It will focus exclusively on the fascinating group of twenty or so invasive ant species, and will review field, laboratory and mathematical modeling work. With mazes and warrior battles on one side, serial killer profilers and futuristic scenario predictions on the other, we'll see that ant studies can be as fascinating as the ants themselves.
