Human-computer interaction draws its theories and methods from a wide variety of disciplines, particularly in the natural sciences and the humanities and social sciences. This lesson presents the main readings from studies of humans, including perception, cognition, emotions, behavior and social relationships, and their implications for the design of interactive systems. I illustrate these concepts with examples, such as how information visualization builds on our understanding of human perception by scientists, but also by artists.
