Social media are everywhere today, and our ability to collaborate remotely has become second nature, especially since the pandemic, with tools for document sharing and direct or deferred communication via text, voice or video. This lesson traces the history of mediated communication, including examples from my own research into mediaspaces and collaborative video, and describes recent research into how user innovations with social media have transformed the way we think about and use computers.
