Abstract

In Europe, one in three women experiences physical or sexual violence during her lifetime. One in eight women experiences sexual violence. This violence forms part of a continuum, from childhood through to adulthood, and is associated with an increased risk of mental health problems and addictive behaviours. This presentation will address the effects of violence on mental health, inequalities in access to care, and the challenges involved in developing appropriate interventions to better support the women and girls affected.
