Clément Sanchez was elected a member of the European Academy of Engineering in July 2026.
A chemist and full professor holding the Chair in Hybrid Materials Chemistry (2011–2020), his pioneering work has helped establish hybrid materials chemistry as a major field at the intersection of molecular science, nanotechnology, and engineering.
He was one of the pioneers of functional inorganic-organic hybrid materials, synthesized using mild chemical methods and environmentally friendly processes. His work has advanced the fields of nanostructured metal oxides, porous and non-porous gels, thin films, microspheres, catalysis, optics, protective coatings, sensing, energy, and waste recovery.
