Mr. Matthieu Vernet
Matthieu Vernet is assistant of Professor Antoine Compagnon at the Collège de France; he has a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fondation Thiers. He is currently preparing his doctoral dissertation on Proust and Baudelaire at the University Paris-Sorbonne, where he has been teaching 19th and 20th centuries French literature. His research assesses questions of memory and representation, the act of reading and the relation between poetry and prose. Combining literary history and critical theory, his research aims to establish a dynamic understanding of intertextuality.
Member of Fabula at the École normale supérieure, M. Vernet is publishing director of Acta fabula, a peer-reviewed online journal and chairs the association of associated researchers and PhD-Students of the Collège de France.
