Abstract
I will begin with the act of translation, in the most common sense of the term: moving from one language to another.
I will outline its history in the Western world, following the Routes of Translation.
Then I will “explore” translation—in all senses of the verb—drawing on my exhibition “After Babel, Translating” (Mucem, 2016–2017, reimagined in Geneva, Buenos Aires, and Luxembourg), to first bring to light, visually, the presence of “untranslatables.”
