Abstract

How do we refer to God, how do we refer to the other, and how does God speak of Himself? The corpus—which is difficult to define precisely—consists of the canonical texts of the three Abrahamic religions, in their original languages and in their own words. This corpus—the texts—and this approach—the languages—are all the more relevant given that each of the three books presents itself, in very different ways, as “revealed” in a more or less organic connection with a language, and may or may not be open to translation. Here again, I will cite a few significant examples.
