Abstract
Elena Mochonkina, lecturer at Astrakhan University, has examined Russian translations of the Divine Comedy in the19th century, comparing them with the French translations through which they sometimes pass. She has shown the considerable weight of the possibilities and restrictions specific to each language in the fields of rhythm, rhyme and versification ("Onorate l'altissimo poeta': Russian readings of The Divine Comedy ").
