Patricia Oster-Stierle, professor at the University of Saarbrücken, under the title "The Five Awakenings of Sleeping Beauty", has not only penetratingly compared Perrault 's Sleeping Beauty to the Grimm brothers' Dornröschen, but has also studied the tale's early versions, from Perceforest' s novel to Giambattista Basile.
