Abstract

Jean-Charles Vegliante, professor at the University of Paris III, has drawn on his experience as a translator of Dante to highlight the choices involved in editing and translating the Vita nova, which is itself rooted in the literary past (the very form of the prosimeter refers back to Boethius) as well as in the career of its author, whose personal itinerary it traces and whose first poetic pieces it preserves ("Translating, restoring: editing the Vita nova prosimeter ").
