To mark European Heritage Days on September 19 and 20, 2026 —whose theme this year is “Heritage in Peril” —the Collège de France opens its doors for a special tour of its two sites in the heart of the Latin Quarter. This tour will allow you to appreciate the richness and diversity of both the heritage and the missions of this illustrious institution, which has been dedicated to the advancement of knowledge for five centuries.
Organized by the Collège de France in partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the exhibition “Foucault. An Intellectual Adventure at the Collège de France ” explores Michel Foucault’s career at the institution where he taught from 1970 to 1984. To mark the centennial of his birth, previously unpublished manuscripts, archival materials, and audio and video recordings trace the evolution of a body of thought that remains deeply relevant today.
Open to the public and free of charge, the exhibition runs from September 30, 2026, to January 15, 2027, Monday through Friday (closed on weekends and holidays), from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Collège de France’s Marcelin-Berthelot campus, 11 Place Marcelin-Berthelot, Paris 5th arrondissement.

From September 30, 2026, to January 15, 2027, the Collège de France exhibition, in partnership with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, “Foucault: An Intellectual Adventure at the Collège de France,” invites visitors to explore Michel Foucault’s time at an institution he profoundly shaped.
The lecture series “Michel Foucault at the Collège de France,” organized by Aurèle Méthivier (Collège de France) in collaboration with Philippe Chevallier (National Library of France), aims to further this exploration by featuring both contemporaries who worked alongside Michel Foucault and specialists in his work and the intellectual life of the 1970s and 1980s.

As part of its “Action for Education ” initiative, the Collège de France, in partnership with the Scientific Council for National Education, is organizing a one-day event on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with the goal of strengthening the ties between scientific research and education. This event is intended to be a large-scale, resolutely optimistic forum for exchange, facilitating the transition from the laboratory to the classroom and vice versa.
The morning session will feature presentations of practical classroom activities, while the afternoon will include eight interactive workshops, allowing participants to customize their own schedule. Several exhibition booths will also be available. Finally, a lecture featuring two Nobel laureates will conclude the day.
