Conversation between Sonia Wieder-Atherton, cellist, and William Marx, Professor of Comparative Literatures at the Collège de France.
Moderator: Chloë Cambreling
Abstract
Sonia Wieder-Atherton is known for bringing to the stage proposals that go beyond the traditional concert form, and in which the performer is also truly an author. In 2024, she premiered Carnets de là-bas with Clément Cogitore at the Philharmonie, and recently recreated d'Est en musique , conceived in 2005 with Chantal Akerman. This conversation will address the question of musical narrative and the stage as a space for creation and experimentation, in dialogue with William Marx on the relationship between music and literature, in order to evoke the thematic, formal and narrative links between these arts.
