An isolated study, even of excellent scientific quality, is not enough to conclude that there is a causal link between a given nutritional factor and a pathology. This lecture illustrates how scientific proof is constructed, through the complementarity of different types of study and metrological approaches, and their synthesis as part of the collective expertise process.
